DESIGNING FOR LEARNING
Explore and Enjoy!
Welcome to my showcase of worksheets, booklets, lesson plans, and unit plans. Below are a selection of two of my most recent lesson plans. Please take a look around to get a sense of my skills, educational philosophy, and my approach to lesson design. To learn more about a specific project, feel free to contact me directly. Additionally, please see the links in each section below for a copy of my lesson plans, as well as associated resources used with each lesson.

LESSON PLANS

REMEMBRANCE DAY POPPY ART (RESULTING IN A CLASS WREATH)
This is a sample lesson plan of my recent Remembrance Day Art lesson, in which students make a poppy each in order to create a class wreath. The class wreath can be used for the in-school Remembrance Day Ceremony, as well as displayed in the classroom. This lesson was for students with varied fine and gross motor skills and had differentiation and accommodations built into it as a result.
GRADE 4/5 LITERACY LESSON: PREDICATES
This is a sample lesson plan of my Grade 4/5 literacy lesson on predicates. The students had previously learned about subjects, and had been freshly introduced to the idea of predicates in the preceding lesson. This was for students in a class of mixed grades levels, differing abilities, and who all were on IPP and behaviour plans.
LESSON RESOURCES
Please see below for a selection of my resources used with the above lesson plans in literacy and art.
UNIT PLAN
Available for Download
Upcoming or additional Unit Plans will be added to this section as they become available.
UNIT PLAN FOR GRADES K-2 FAIRY TALES
My Unit on Fairy Tales (grades K-2) focused on reading a fairy tale, summarizing, sequencing, and identifying the characters, settings, and problem/solution within it. Following this, students were read a twisted version of the fairy tale, which they analyzed in the same way as the original fairy tale, with an additional target of comparing and contrasting the two fairy tales. This unit was for students of mixed grade levels (K-2), mixed abilities, and who all had IPP's and behaviour plans.

UNIT PLAN FOR GRADE 6 Flight
My Unit on Flight (grade 6 science) focused on learning about flight, how flying works, the parts of a plane, parts of a rocket and/or space shuttle, how space flight works (rocket launches), and using the scientific method to engage in experiments. Following the midpoint of our unit, where students learned about planes and their parts, they were able to go on an engaging field trip to the Hangar Flight Museum! This unit was designed for students of mixed grade levels (K-6), mixed abilities, and who all had IPP's and behaviour plans.

Additional Resources
Below are a selection of worksheets, educational resources, and booklets that I have created for use in units and lessons. Please explore these worksheets as much as you wish, and if you have any questions please contact me!

Measurement Workbook
Measurement unit workbook created by me for Grades 1-3 (mixed grade levels) in a Bridges classroom. We attempted to minimize the writing due to this being early in my practicum, while still addressing the learning outcomes (at the time I needed to build relationships first and writing was always a large trigger for student behaviour, so it was suggested that I limit it).

Sentence Building Worksheet
This worksheet was used with mixed grade classes (all autistic, ADHD, LD students) to help them to build up from simple sentences to sentences with more details as well as a question-based set-up to help them determine what they want to write about and the respective word placement in the sentence.

Labelling Activity - Parts of a Rocket
This worksheet was again used with a mixed grade class of autistic, ADHD, and LD students (with and without EA assistance) during our Flight Unit. We had learned about airplanes, and had moved on to space shuttles and rockets. This worksheet was used to teach the vocabulary words and assess their understanding after a lesson on this topic.
Balloon Rocket Experiment
This was also part of our flight unit, and was one of our experiments for space flight with rockets. We had a mixed grade class with differing abilities (autistic, ADHD, and LD students) studying flight on Earth and in space. Students had choices of variables in the experiment, answered two hypothesis questions, and ran the experiment. Afterwards they reflected on it and answered observation questions.
